CHRT provides data analytic and consulting services to health care purchasers to advise them on approaches to strengthen their health care benefit plans to improve quality and cost effectiveness of care. In this regard, CHRT performs the following: opportunity assessment, including trend and benchmarking analysis; focused analysis of current health care topics, identifying key insights and actionable opportunities; and, program evaluation, to measure the impact of purchaser initiatives.
CHRT starts with a collaboratively developed statement of work to assure the study will meet the Purchaser’s needs.
Next, the analysis phase involves data drill-down, integration, and statistical analysis; utilizing claims data, health risk assessment data, public data sources, or survey results. Preliminary results are reviewed with clinical experts to gain insight on current practices, key findings, and opportunities to improve patient care.
A final report is prepared with key insights and recommendations and presented to the Purchaser, with follow-up consultation services as needed.
CHRT generally produces two to three reports per year on topics of interest to a Purchaser. Examples of CHRT analytic studies include:
- Diabetes management: use patterns, cost-effectiveness, and quality of care
- Cancer treatment variation and end of life care
- Obesity and bariatric surgery cost and use trends
- Behavioral health and substance use disorder cost, use, quality and access, including a focus on high volume and uncoordinated opioid use
CHRT is uniquely positioned to add value to Purchasers with our depth and breadth of health industry knowledge; access to leaders in the field and top clinicians at the University of Michigan; commitment to objective, independent analysis without cross-selling other consulting or product services; and maintenance of our non-profit status with a goal to improve population health and health care.
